Self-Portrait

This is my self-portrait, that was inspired by a famous Mexican artist called Frida Kahlo. I used oil pastels to to colour it in. I learnt that the eyes don't go on the top of your face, they go in the middle. Something I found difficult was positioning the hair. Here is my self portrait.

Frida Kahlo Report

We have been learning to write a report. We had to note down all we learned about her and then put that information in a report. Here is mine.
Frida Kahlo
Frida Kahlo was a Mexican artist who was born  on  July the 6th 1907 and died on 25th of July 1954, 19 days after her birthday
Image result for frida kahlo self portraitFrida Kahlo had an extremely rough life. When she was 6 she contracted a disease called polio, which made one leg weaker, and that made her a cripple. Frida was also in a bus crash when she was eighteen,  when the driver of her school bus hit a trolley.  After that she was bedridden for 3 months and in that time she devoted her life to art. Frida went through more than 35 surgeries. When she went home she drew pictures of herself. She would never be the same again.
Frida Kahlo always had animals in her art; she loved them. But most importantly she always showed how she felt and expressed her feelings to the world through her art.
My opinion on Fridas’s art is that it is great, because her face in her artwork looks almost exactly like her, and the monkeys and and so on were also great.
On Friday the 19th of August Awahono School held a mini Olympics that room 6 organised. There were lots of fun games we could play. We were put into pairs for certain team sports and competed by ourselves in the individual sports. Here is a picture of my class after the games.

What are the Olympic Games?

We had to write an explanation on what the Olympic games are. We made a padlet and put all of our ideas onto it. We had to pretend that we were explaining the Olympic games to someone who didn't know what the Olympic games are. Here is mine.
What are the Olympic Games?
The Olympics are an international sporting event held every four years, in different countries each time, and only the top athletes compete in them. Athletes represent their countries in a number of events over seventeen days, and the athletes with the best times, largest throw and so on, win medals.
Athletes compete against different countries’ top athletes in different events at the Olympics, for example: cycling, sprinting, and boxing. There are also team events such as rowing, team cycling and the relay.
To win medals you must come in 1st, 2nd or 3rd place. If you come in 1st place you get a gold medal, in 2nd place you get a silver medal and for 3rd place a bronze.
My opinion on the Olympics is that it is a great way for countries in battle or that lack friendship to get along with one another, and for top athletes to show what they can do.  In the Olympics every country gets along with one another.
Fact: The gold medal isn’t actually gold.  It is a silver medal with a thick layer of gold coating.
